Safety definitions
Warnings, cautions and notes are used to point out specially important parts of the operator's manual.
WARNING: Used if there is a risk of injury or death for the operator or bystanders if the instructions in the manual are not obeyed.
CAUTION: Used if there is a risk of damage to the product, other materials or the
adjacent area if the instructions in the manual are not obeyed.
Note: Used to give more information that is necessary in a given situation.
General safety instructions
WARNING: Please read the operator’s manual carefully and make sure you
understand the instructions before using the product.
The product is designed to provide safe and reliable service in operating conditions corresponding with the instructions, but it can present dangers for the user and risks of damage, consequently regular on site inspection
is necessary to ensure:
• Perfect technical condition (use for the purpose for which it is intended and taking into account any risks, and correction of any malfunction detrimental
to safety).
• That the warnings and instructions marked on the product are followed (adequate personal protection, correct use, general safety instructions, etc).
• The product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge.
• Children shall be supervised not to play with the appliance.
• That the product is for commercial use.
• That overexposure to vibration can lead to circulatory damage or nerve damage in people who have impaired circulation. Contact your doctor if you
experience symptoms of overexposure to vibration.
Such symptoms include numbness, loss of feeling, tingling, pricking, pain, loss of strength, changes in skin color or condition. These symptoms normally
appear in the fingers, hands or wrists. These symptoms may be increased in cold temperatures.
• Cutting, especially when DRY cutting, generates dust that comes from the material being cut, which frequently contains silica. Silica is a basic
component of sand, quartz, brick clay, granite and numerous other minerals and rocks. Exposure to excessive amount of such dust can cause:
• Respiratory disease (affecting your ability to breath), including chronic bronchitis, silicosis and pulmonary fibrosis from exposure to silica. These
diseases may be fatal.
• Skin irritation and rash.
• Cancer according to NTP* and IARC* */ National Toxicology Program, International Agency for
Research on Cancer
• Take precautionary steps:
• Avoid inhalation of and skin contact with dust, mist and fumes.
• Wear and ensure that all bystanders wear appropriate respiratory protection such as dust masks designed to filter out microscopic particles. (See OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910.1200)
• Wet cut when feasible, to minimize dust.
WARNING: Do not allow the supply cord to come in contact with rotating brushes.
Note: Operator´s manual should always be available at the place of work. It should be read and used by any person installing or using the product. The obligatory technical regulations in force in the country where the product is used must also be adhered to for maximum safety.
Safety instructions for assembly
The original drums from manufacturers’ should be used.
Do not use any other drum whose shape, size and mounting do not fit the product.
Check that the parts are properly fixed (no abnormal vibration) and that it is correctly assembled.
No modification, transformation or addition that is detrimental to safety and that it is carried out without prior authorization from the manufacturer should be done.
Safety instructions for operation
WARNING: This section describes basic safety directions for using the product. This information is never a substitute for professional skills and experience. If you get into a situation where you feel unsafe, stop and seek expert advice. Contact your dealer, service agent or an experienced user. Do not attempt any task that you feel unsure of!
WARNING: The toolshaft rotates when the engine is started.
WARNING: Be aware of hot muffler. Use gloves/safety gear.
Those who operate this product should be competent staff (qualifications, age, training) who have read and understood the manual in detail before starting work.
Any electrical, mechanical or other problem should be investigated by a qualified maintenance engineer (electrician, maintenance manager, approved dealer, etc .).
• When the product is received check its condition.
• Always keep the product clean.
• Always keep alert when working.
Personal protective equipment
WARNING: You must use approved personal protective equipment whenever
you use the product. Personal protective equipment cannot eliminate the risk of injury but it will reduce the degree of injury if an accident does happen. Ask your dealer for help in choosing the right equipment.
WARNING: The use of products such as cutters, grinders, drills, that sand or form material can generate dust and vapors
which may contain hazardous chemicals.
Check the nature of the material you intend to process and use an appropriate breathing mask. Long-term exposure to noise can result in permanent hearing impairment.
Always use approved hearing protection. Listen for warning signals or
shouts when you are wearing hearing protection. Always remove your hearing
protection as soon as the engine stops.
Always wear:
• Approved protective helmet.
• Hearing protection.
• Approved eye protection. If you use a face shield then you must also wear approved protective googles.
• Breathing mask.
• Heavy-duty, firm grip gloves.
• Tight-fitting, heavy-duty and comfortable clothing that permits full freedom of movement.
• Boots with steel toe-caps and non-slip sole.
• Always have a first aid kit nearby.
Fuel safety
The level of the fuel and oil need be checked regularly.
Consult the engine manufacturer manual if necessary.
WARNING: Take into account the working conditions from health and safety point of view.
WARNING: Running an engine in a confined or badly ventilated area can result in death due to asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning. Use fans to ensure proper air circulation when working in trenches or ditches deeper the one meter (3 foot).
WARNING: Fuel and fuel fumes are highly flammable and can cause serious injury
when inhaled or allowed to come in contact with the skin. For this reason observe caution when handling fuel and make sure there is adequate ventilation. The exhaust fumes from the engine are hot and may contain sparks which can start a fire. Never start the product indoors or near combustible material!
WARNING: Do not smoke and do not place any hot objects in the vicinity of fuel.
Safety instructions for maintenance
WARNING: Inspection and/or maintenance should be carried out with the motor
switched off and the plug disconnected.
CAUTION: Drum inspection is carried out through the side plate. Product tilted
backwards rested on the handlebar leads to damaging oil leakage.
We recommend that the respect of the maintenance intervals and periodical checks should be obey and implemented and only genuine spare parts be used for
repairs and maintenance.
